Choosing a wedding venue
Having to make such an important venue can be very hard. We strongly advise couples to make a shortlist of wedding venues at visit at least 3 of them more than once. Think of it like buying a house, you wouldn’t want to just pick a venue on price or location. You will need to investigate it personally. Top tips are:
- Draw up a budget.
- Choose a radius close for family and friends to get to the venue. If transport could be an issue then try and budget for extra transport costs.
- Make a shortlist on a spreadsheet and try to write honest pros and cons.
- Have a close friend or family member look at your shortlist.
- Visit the venue for a meal or for a short trip. How did you emotionally connect with the venue? Is it somewhere you would want to go back to?
- Visit the venue again at a wedding open day.
Once you have decided on a venue then it is time to let the good times commence! We are assuming you are on this website because you are considering booking Stirk House to host your wedding or you have already booked.
Stirk House Wedding
This particular venue is a majestic 16th century manor house which is both impressive and elegant. There is only 1 wedding per day and the layout of the venue is perfectly suited for weddings across various sizes. This means that Stirk House can adapt the venue to the changes in wedding capacity. Speak to one of their wedding co-ordinators about this in detail. It is a unique feature to have!
Outside there are 22 acres for you and your guests to enjoy. Although most people do tend to stay close to the manor house as there is an incredible view right from the house itself. This means that you don’t have to go for a very long hike in order to get some idylic photographs! The hotel is also dog friendly, which is very handy for 4 legged friend guests.
Below is just one photograph of a wedding couple with their wedding party in a unique setting on their wedding day. This Stirk House Wedding photograph used with kind permission from Paul:
There is a fully equipped leisure club with an impressive range of equipment and heated pool which can be used. There is also a full sized professional boxing ring! These facilities are all free to use for the residents of the hotel. Yep, no extra costs! The pool and sauna are perfect for a bit of relaxation after a nice long walk in the woods and grounds of the hotel. If you was to book your wedding here and your friends and family were to stay then they would be spoilt for choices on how to cure the hangover.
The hotel also boasts it’s very own (and now famous) restaurant: Prime. The head chef has an incredible attention to detail and has built up a strong reputation for the quality of the food.
